A total of 14 kilos of shabu worth P112 million were seized by Ozamiz City Police in a series of operations

Arrested were a former bodyguard of detained Ozamiz Vice Mayor Princess Nova Parojinog and two others

Chief Inspector Jovie Espenido said the seized illegal drugs were old stocks of the Parojinog family

Chief Inspector Jovie Espenido of the Ozamiz City Police said his men seized 14 kilos of methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as shabu, worth P112 million in a series of anti-illegal drugs operations in Misamis Occidental on Wednesday, December 6. Three suspects were arrested.

Espenido said the seized illegal drugs were old stocks of the Parojinogs, some of whose family members were either killed or arrested when they supposedly resisted violently when police served search warrants against properties owned by the family last July.

“Lumang supply iyan, pagdating ko sa Ozamiz tinago nila,” GMA News quoted Espenido as saying in a radio interview.

Those were old stocks. They hid them when I arrived in Ozamiz.

The police first arrested Butch Merino, who was reportedly a former driver and bodyguard of detained Ozamiz Vice Mayor Princess Nova Parojinog, at a checkpoint in the city.

Merino identified his source as Melden Rabarez, who the police later arrested in an entrapment operation together with a certain Roselyn Walohan.

The series of anti-drugs operations were conducted after President Rodrigo Duterte ordered the Philippine National Police to actively participate again in the government’s war on drugs being led by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
