“Justice for Sereno, Justice for all!”
Out on the street in front of the Supreme Court, a lawyer danced and rapped as he led red-clad protesters in a rally against ousted Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno early Friday morning.
A few hours before the high court invalidated Sereno’s appointment, Ferdinand Topacio, with a towel hanging around his neck, grabbed a megaphone to lead the protesters in a rap.
“Yes, yes, yow,” he shouted to a drum beat in the background.
“Quo warranto,” the crowd replied.
Before noon Friday, the Supreme Court, voting 8-6, granted the quo warranto petition that Solicitor General Jose Calida filed against Sereno, nullifying her 2012 appointment for failing to submit required statements of assets, liabilities and net worth when she applied for the post.
Topacio then went freestyle, rapping: “I’m gonna make you wet. I’m gonna make you sweat. Sooner or later, you’re gonna show your puwet (ass).”
